SAEMS 2020-2021 Scholarships Awarded
Since the SAEMS scholarships began in 1991, more than $235,000 in awards have been made to over 100 deserving University of Arizona students in the environmental field. Thank you to members, attendees and sponsors of the RCRA seminar, who each help to make the annual SAEMS scholarship awards possible!
The latest application was updated in December and is available as of January 8, 2021, with a March 28, 2021 due date before committee review. Awardees will be announced in May 2021.
If you are a current SAEMS member and are interested in serving on the SAEMS Education Committee/scholarship review now or in the future, please speak with any member of the SAEMS Board.

Despite COVID, SAEMS was still able to award over $8,000 in Scholarship Funds to University of Arizona Students pursuing degrees in The Environmental, Health, and Safety Industries in the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Here is a list of this years recipients.
- Norma Villagómez-Márquez was awarded a $2,500 Scholarship.
- Jenna Honan was awarded a $2,000 Scholarship.
- Eric Carlson was awarded a $2,000 Scholarship.
- Ali Hossein Mardi was awarded a $1,500 Scholarship.
- Heather Altherr was awarded a $500 Scholarship.
