Engineering and Environmental Consultants, Inc. (EEC) has an opening for an Environmental Specialist/Technician. The position is open to candidates in Tucson and/or Phoenix (and anywhere in between) and will hire as part time but, depending on workload, may transition to full time within 6 months. The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge in Phase I/II ESAs, asbestos inspections and/or lead-based paint surveys. Job responsibilities will include:
- perform small to large due diligence projects,
- assist with field investigations,
- research and compile data,
- complete various environmental reports,
- interface with clients and regulatory agencies
- support project managers with permitting and regulatory compliance
The candidate will be required to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and will be responsible for completing assigned work in accordance with a strict schedule. Candidate will also be expected to perform other as-needed tasks associated with environmental consulting.
Education/Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, environmental science, or closely related science field and at least one year of professional experience. Proficient computer skills for document preparation and spreadsheet preparation are required to include proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and additional word processing, spreadsheet, and data management software. Attention to detail and being a team player are a must. The successful candidate will have current 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-Hour refresher training and the ability to demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills. Certifications in asbestos and/or lead-based paint are also desired.
Physical Requirements
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license. Capable of site visits and field operations, use of office equipment, lift 25lbs, and pass a pre-employment drug screen. Candidate must also be cleared for respirator use prior to an official offer of employment.
